Suddenly but peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, in his 80th year, following a brief illness.

Beloved husband of Kathleen (Nee Albion) for 56 years. Cherished father of Lisa (James) of London and Steven (Paula) of Sarnia. Treasured grandad of Megan and Aaron. Doug is pre-deceased by his mother, Mary Cramb, and survived by his brother, Peter Cramb, both of Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland.

Doug came to Canada from Scotland in 1967 to begin a new adventure. In 1968, he married his love and best friend, Kath, and together they built a beautiful life. From Port Lambton to Port Elgin and eventually to Bright’s Grove for the last 34 years, they raised a family, welcomed precious grandchildren, and after 25 years of service with Ontario Hydro at Lambton GS and Bruce NPD and nearly a decade at GM Diesel in London, the next chapter of their lives began and they thoroughly enjoyed twenty-five years of retirement. Doug was often heard saying it was the best job he’d ever had.

Doug was well known for his love of music, scotch, golf and chocolate chip cookies. He and Kath had many trips back to the UK and down to Myrtle Beach, and loved spending time with family and friends, having pool parties, playing cards, and going on adventures. His joking nature and cheerfulness will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Doug was also an active member of, and an Elder at, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.

Doug’s family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and PSW’s in Bluewater Health’s Palliative Care ward and at St. Joseph’s Hospice, whose care and concern were a comfort during his brief time with them. They would also like to thank all of their kind and thoughtful friends for their expressions of love and support during this difficult time.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Doug’s wishes, a private family service will be held. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, both of Sarnia. Memories and condolences may be sent online at www.sarniacreamtionservices.com
