Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Bluewater Health, on Friday, July 19, 2024. Gayle was born and raised in Petrolia to Frederick (Ted) and Donalda Stothers (Nėe Lennan).

Predeceased by her beloved husband, John (2006) of 50 years. A loving mother to her four daughters, Heather (Billy) Reddin, Penny (Scott) McEachran, Susie (Bob) Hunt, and Jackie (John) Nettleton. A special nana to Cindy (Tom), Miranda (Dave), Elizabeth (Lance), and Matthew (Lenka). She will also be missed by her eight great grandchildren, Emily, Dylan, Alex, Lucas, June, Edie, Kavan, and Kowan. Survived by her siblings, Denny Stothers, Beth Douglas, and Jimmy Stothers. Predeceased by her siblings, Ann LeBlanc, Mary Kay Guay, Ted Stothers, and John Stothers. Gayle is also survived by hundreds of nieces and nephews.

Gayle has left a lasting impact on all those who knew her. Her bold humor and propensity to “tell it like it is” is what characteristically made her Gayle. She loved to laugh and effortlessly got others laughing with her. She worked for many years at CIBC before moving to Saint John, New Brunswick, where she lived with her husband, John, until his passing in 2006. Gayle enjoyed country music, family get togethers, Frank Costanza, rye and ginger, US politicians, Michael & Dwight, WWF wrestling, hummingbirds, eye drops, and eating chocolate for meals. She loved the outdoors and spent much time at her cabin, “Dilligaf Camp,” and camped at Birch Pine in Ipperwash for many years. She will forever be known as our Nana Banana.

Thank you to the kind staff at Bluewater Health for their care and patience. A special thank you to nurse Rachael B. for her care, compassion, and humor.

Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at D.J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Monday, July 29, 2024 at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery. A reception will then follow at 710 Esser Crescent, Sarnia.
