It is with sadness that the family of Joyce Nelson (Oliver) announce her passing on April 25, 2024 at the age of 92. Her spirit and strength allowed her to conquer her COPD for over 15 years. Loving mother of Mike Nelson and his wife Pauline, Jane Janes and her husband Don and Ron Nelson and his wife Cindy. She was predeceased by her son Tom in 1993 and her husband Bob in 2009. Cherished grandmother of Natalie Nelson (Brian), Bob Nelson (Brie), Heather Janes (Don), Michael Janes (Nicole), Jeff Nelson (Sarah), Steven Nelson (Laura), Lori Nelson, and Tosha Lobsinger. Treasured G.G. Joyce to Kylie, Dylan, Brianna, Lucas, Taylor, Ophelia, Indiana, William, Kaleb, Macalah, Alyiah, Julia and Josephine. She was very proud of all her children and grandchildren and nothing in the world made her happier than spending time with them. She was a loving big sister to Nancy Steen, Bill Oliver and Diane Stiegemeyer. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. There was a special place in her heart for BethAnn and Jim Mitchell and Dawn and Bill Round who supplied her with many visits and tasty meals throughout the years. In her life Joyce had many passions, she loved to sew and knit, and her homemade items were a hit at Christmas or on Birthdays. She loved playing cards - Bridge with the duplicate gang in Sarnia or Euchre at the Point Edward Ex-Servicemen’s Club. In her younger years, she especially loved her golf and her trips to Las Vegas and Florida with Bob, her husband for over 55 years. Joyce had many special friends young and old, and you could always be guaranteed a good laugh when you came to visit her. The family would like to thank Rosewood Manor for making her final days so comfortable. Finally her nurse Mandy and Doctor Kim were her angels to the end. Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Lung Association, or the Point Edward Ex-Serviceman’s Association (cheques only at the funeral home, please).
