It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Donald Nelson at Lambton Meadowview Villa surrounded by loved ones on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the age of 83 years.
Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Wilhelmina Nelson, his beloved wives, Doris Nelson (2001) and Arlene Corbett-Nelson (2024) and his sister Joan Wilson.
Don leaves behind his daughters, Jacqueline van Klaveren (Karl) and Michelle Deschamps (Phil). Cherished Papa to his grandchildren; Nicole (Ethan) Brown, Nelson (Karen) van Klaveren, Victoria (Jake) Wright and Samantha Deschamps. Treasured Great Grand Papa to Malcolm Brown. Warmly remembered by Arlene’s family, Adam Corbett (Pam), Kelly Smith, Kaitlynn Button (Jordan), and their children Jaxon, Benjamin, and Delilah.
Don was a proud small business owner, operating Nelson’s Flowers and Garden Centre at Reeces Corners for many years. He was an active community member, involved in local politics and gave back through service with Wyoming Lions Club and the Wyoming Legion.
He will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, sense of humour and deep love for his family. Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A special thank you to all the health care providers that assisted Don during the time and to the many supportive friends and extended family that visited. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at Wyoming Public Cemetery. A celebration of Don’s life will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 1:00 - 3:30 at the Wyoming Lions Hall, 554 Main St. In memory of Don, contributions to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family
