Peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on February 21, 2025, Everit Moons passed away at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Mary Moons for 53 years. Proud father of Maryann Moons, Everett (Leana McIntyre) Moons, Jack (Jenn Markham) Moons, and Jennifer (David Burrows) Moons. Cherished Opa of Eddie, Thomas, Marcus, Jordan, Grey, Noah, Easton, Julie and Jason.  

Dear brother of late Jane (the late Jack) Schoonderwoerd, the late Dick (the late Martha) Moons, John (Margaret) Moons, Bertha (Kurt) Walter, and Charlie (the late Tuesday) Moons. He will be missed by his siblings-in-law Harry (Madeleine) Visser, Joe (the late Rose) Visser, the late Dinah (the late Tony) Koot, Toni (the late John) Snyders, Peter (Seline) Visser, Teddie (John) Willemse, and Tony (Erma) Visser.  

Predeceased by his parents Johannes and Adriana Moons, his parents-in-law Ted and Anna Maria Visser, and nephews Jimmy Schoonderwoerd, Eric Walter, and David Snyders.  

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family in Canada and The Netherlands

Everit was born in Haastrecht, The Netherlands on December 7, 1941. He came to Canada with his family in 1951 where after a short time in Chatham they bought a farm in Kinnaird. He raised his own family there while building a grain elevator, a passion at which he worked until his retirement at 81. He also co-founded Forest Agri Services. Everit was a collector at heart: first comics, and later “art”, seashells, model trains, and vintage tractors.

Visitation will be held at DENNING’S OF FOREST on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 1:00pm until 3:00pm and 6:00pm until 8:00pm with prayers at 5:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebration at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 11:00am. A private interment will take place at Beechwood Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to all the wonderful and caring staff at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital for the compassion shown to Everit during his time there.
