We sadly announce the passing of Harvey George Momney. He went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the age of 90.
Harvey was born in Wallaceburg. He and his family moved to Michigan in 1964 where he started working as a finished carpenter for several years. He moved to Florida in 1981 and continued as a finished carpenter for 30 years. When it came to carpenter work, he was excellent at what he did, and it was done to perfection. Being a carpenter came natural to him his whole life. In 2011 he retired and moved back to his hometown of Wallaceburg. He was also an excellent athlete. He played hockey and Lacrosse. In 1959, his team, the Wallaceburg Red Devils, were the champions for the Ontario Lacrosse association intermediate”B”. In 1994, his team was inducted into the Ontario hall of fame. Gordie Howe was on hand to give out the awards that day! Everyone who knew him would agree that he loved to laugh and joke around and enjoy life.
He is preceded by his mother Viola (Rodgers) Momney, his father Wilbert Momney, his sister Gerldene McFadden (Dennis), sister Marlene Blake (Johnny), son Michael Momney and the mother of his children Marie (Churcott) Momney.
He has left behind his sister Arlene (Pat Hagen) Demoor, , a daughter-in-law Annette, (wife of the late Michael Momney). Gregory Momney, Valerie (George) Oberdorf, and Paul Momney.
Grandfather of Angela (Michelangelo), Monica (Michael), Nicolas (Candis), and Heather (Billy).
Great Grandfather to Nixen, Norah, Sylis, Elias and Adiline.
He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Arrangements entrusted to the the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg.
Following his wishes, cremation will take place.
There will be a memorial gathering at a later date.
