Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on January 21, 2024, at Bluewater Health, Wayne McKay passed away at the age of 68. Beloved husband of Sharon McKay. Cherished father of Fraser (Sarah) and Patrick (Nicole). Treasured grandfather of Sebastian, Madison, Cooper and Cameron. Dear brother of Lynn (Steve). Predeceased by his father Gerald, mother Francis, and granddaughter Abigail. Wayne graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He started his career in Toronto moving to Sarnia in 1994. He loved to talk about the many projects he had the opportunity to be part of and had a particular soft spot for his involvement in the ski jumps for the 1988 Calgary Olympics. As a child Wayne embraced all things outdoors, fishing, hunting, canoeing at Honey Harbour and Algonquin Park. Later in life Wayne mastered the art of model making, filling the house of WW11 aircraft carriers and flying machines. Above all, Wayne was most proud of his boys, quietly rejoicing in their accomplishment from the sidelines. Cremation has taken place. As per Wayne’s wishes, no services will be held. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Inn of the Good Shepherd (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
