Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Bluewater Health, Velma “June” McGregor passed away at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late Ken McGregor. Loving mother of Robin (Bill) McGregor- Namink, Diana Abram and Heather (Rob) McGregor-Charbonneau. Cherished grandmother of Zak Namink, Dorian Namink, Gabriel Namink, Sonya Namink and family, Klayton Abram (Holly Martin) and Kora Abram, Steven Abram and Family, Violet Charbonneau and Kendra Charbonneau. Treasured great-grandmother of Jakob Abram, Sawyer Abram and Addie Abram. Dear sister of Harry (Marje) Oakes, Ruth (John) Core and Shirley (Dick) Yorke. Predeceased by her parents Wilbur and Ethel Oakes. June “Shorty” was a gifted and talented musician. She was a concert pianist and a member of the All Saints Anglican church choir. June had also obtained her private pilot license, fulfilling her sense of adventure. She worked for many years at Polysar as an executive secretary. June enjoyed golfing with her “Golf Girls” and socializing with her “Bridge Friends”. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and again from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
