It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mum, Phyllis Elizabeth Maughan who was born in Liverpool, England on Aug 4/ 1931 and passed away on Mar. 15/2025 at Bluewater Health, Sarnia, Ont. Phyllis is predeceased by her husband Frank, her parents Beatrice and William Ward of the UK and all of her siblings in the UK and Canada. She is survived by her children Deb Stewardson (Brian), Steve Maughan (Pat), Cathy Howard (Jack) and Stephanie Maughan (fur babies). She was also Grandmother and Great Grandmother to Shaun Stewardson (Lisa) and their children Audra and Nevin, Brianne Romanik (Justin) and their children Eliana and Lucas, Michelle Cashen (Christopher). She also has several nieces and nephews and their families scattered around the UK, western Canada and in Sarnia. Phyllis and Frank emigrated to western Canada from Liverpool, England in 1954 and later relocated to Sarnia, Ontario in 1958. Phyllis moved out to Qualicum Beach, Vancouver Island in Jan 1989 and together with her sister Stella Guy travelled the world. Her adventurous spirit lives on in her children who remain proud of her fierce independence and the joy she had in exploring different countries. These last three years however, saw her health declining and so she returned to Sarnia where she continued to live on her own with the help and support of her family; proudly independent to the end. We will miss you Mum but your long struggle is over and we know you are reunited with Dad after 50 years apart. We love you. Always in our hearts! As per Mum’s request there will be no visitation or service. A private family commemoration will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory to a charity of your choice if you wish to do so (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
