Though the waves leap, soft shall ye sleep
Ocean’s a royal bed
Rocked in the deep, Flora will keep
Watch by your weary head
Slainte!

Murray MacKinnon Dec 23, 1935 - Dec 18, 2023 The family of Murray Hinson MacKinnon will forever mourn the loss of their patriarch. He laid down his sword at the feet of Covid. It was a powerful battle but the enemy was victorious. Murray was a humble man and a brilliant chemist. After graduating from Acadia University, his career began in Guelph for Hart Chemicals. A decade later, he had the opportunity to move the family to the Netherlands, having accepted a position with Lever Bros. Briefly returning to Guelph to attend the MSc program at the University of Guelph, his next adventure saw him working for VirChem in Pointe Claire, Quebec. His last employment stop was for Ethyl Canada in Corunna.

Murray leaves behind his children Ted and Paula MacKinnon of Kitchener; David MacKinnon of Essex; Deanna McCartney (predeceased by Alan) of Sarnia and Andrew MacKinnon of Mississauga as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife, Merilyn, siblings Albert, Dodie (Brown), Frannie (Maxwell), Freddy, Ruthie (Erb) and his beloved mother Ethel.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Marshall Gowland Manor for the love and care you gave. Allowing him to be your personal assistant gave him joy and meaning. He loved all his girlfriends - you brought the twinkle back to his eyes.

Murray will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Sarnia or the Heart and Stroke Foundation (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. Memories and condolences may be sent online at www.smithfuneralhome.ca
