It is with our hearts’ sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Dorothy Ann Lowrie (nee Chamberlain) on January
27, 2025, following a short illness. She is predeceased by her husband, Gary (2022) after a long and loving 62 years together.
Beloved mom to her family: Susan (Peter), Kim (Shari) and Mike (Michelle) and grandma to Mitch, Meg (Jordan), Shane and Alex (Melissa). Special to Dorothy were her great-grandchildren: Noelle, Mason, Abby and Lily.
Dorothy is survived by her brother Dave (Sharron) Chamberlain and her sister-in-law, Barbara (George) Tomlinson and all her nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a Registered Nurse, Sarnia General Hospital Class of 1960 and worked for many years there in Obstetrics. She worked a further 22 years at North Lambton Rest Home in Forest and cared deeply for the staff and residents of her local community.
Dorothy had many longstanding friendships with her nursing class colleagues, high school friends and friends of hers and Gary’s over the years. She will miss all the weekly phone calls and asks when you call a friend for a chat, you might think of her too.
The family thanks the staff of MedA and Palliative Care at Bluewater Health. At Dorothy’s request, donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Covenant House Toronto or the Women’s Interval Home, Sarnia.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be scheduled at a later date.
Please join family and friends at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 126, Forest for a drop-in visit on Saturday, February 1, 2025, between 1-3 p.m.
