Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, Ruth Long passed away at the age of 87. Beloved wife of 67 years to George Long. Loving mother of Christine Long (Leo) and Adrienne Sandham (Lon). Cherished Grandma of Jaselyn Beckman (Jade), Josie Sandham, Connor Kennedy, Claire Sandham (Michaella) and Great Grandma of Brett Davis and Paris Beckman. Dear sister of Mike Jones (Sandra), Anne McDonald (Gord), and Steve Jones (Judy). Predeceased by her parents Amy and Peter Jones, daughter Kathryn, infant son George and brothers Bryan, Lyn and Chris Jones.
Ruth worked for 31 years at the Royal Bank. In retirement she went back to school to pursue a real estate license and spent 8 years as an agent. Her biggest passion and past time was as an avid Bridge player. She played four times a week and participated in yearly tournaments up north. Ruth loved family Sunday dinners and the yearly two-day family Christmas celebration. She also had many fond memories of the summers spent at their cottage in Nova Scotia with grandkids and all of the Long family. She amassed countless friendships along the way and carried these friendships lifelong. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at a later date. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Inn of the Good Shepherd (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
