Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Bluewater Health, Arthur Lewis passed away at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Barbara Lewis for close to 70 years. Loving father of Laurie Lewis (Robert Steidl) and Lynn Hill (David Hill). Cherished grandfather of Robert Hill and Sarah Hill. Predeceased by his Mother Opal Lewis and Father Arthur Lewis and Brother Gary Lewis. Art graduated from the University of Michigan in 1954 as a mechanical engineer and joined Imperial Oil. He worked in the Engineering Division and later in the Sarnia Refinery for over 35 years. Art was a long time member of the Sarnia Golf & Curling Club and organized the archives. He was active with Skate Sarnia for over 60 years recording music for many skaters, and was on the Western Ontario Section Board as Music Chairperson. He played music at many skating competitions, some days working from 7:00 in the morning until almost midnight and loved every minute of it. He received a Special Achievement Award from the Government of the Province of Ontario for “distinguished contribution to the field of fitness and amateur sport”. He also was awarded a 50 year volunteer pin by Skate Canada. Cremation has taken place. A private family service was held. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Cancer Society or Heart & Stroke or charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
