With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Catherine “Kay” Kelly, at the age of 84, on December 18, 2024, at Lambton Meadowview Villa in Petrolia. Kay, a woman of grace, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family, was a cherished sister, aunt, and friend, whose presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Kay is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Myrna MacDonald (the late Ron), Ron Weatherhead (Kim), Cliff (Kathy) Davies, and her sister-in-law Ruth Weatherhead. Her life was richly blessed by the love of her nieces and nephews: Corrine (the late Brad) Milner, Wayne MacDonald, Janeen Weatherhead, Jenny (James) Wylie, Chris (Dana) Weatherhead, Kim Orrange (Scott Bradshaw), and Roy Weatherhead. Predeceased by her beloved parents, Roy and Thelma Weatherhead, her step-father Harvey Davies, and her dear brother, Al Weatherhead, Kay now rests in the embrace of her Lord and Savior.
A devoted Christian, Kay found joy and strength in reading and studying her Bible, a source of wisdom and comfort throughout her life. Her faith was the cornerstone of her being, and she shared that faith lovingly with all around her. Kay’s love for family was unparalleled; she was always present, visiting loved ones, supporting her nieces and nephews when they were growing up.
Kay was fascinated by her family history, becoming the revered authority on the subject, delighting in the stories that connected generations and preserved her family's legacy. She was the proud owner of Weatherhead Shoes in Arthur, Ontario, for many years, where she was a pillar of the community.
An avid photographer, Kay had an eye for capturing the beauty in both her loved ones and the natural wonders of God's great creations. Her camera was always at the ready to preserve memories that will now be treasured by those she leaves behind.
Kay’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lambton Meadowview Villa for their compassionate care during her time there.
A private family service will be held, where Kay’s life and faith will be celebrated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lambton Meadowview Villa Auxiliary.
