Rudolf “Rudy” Kabat passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health. He is survived by his sons, Bryan (Jaime) and Darryl, daughter-in-law Anna and his cherished grandchildren: RJ, Michael (Miya), Samara, Zoie, Adam, Joey, and Taya. He will be dearly missed by his close friend Lynda and his former wife, Judy Kabat. Rudy was a loving Papa to many of Bryan and Jaime’s foster children through the years, always treating them as his own.

He took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow. Rudy had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and found great joy in training them. He spent much of the past few years working with animals, sharing his knowledge and patience to help others develop strong bonds with their pets. His passion for animals was only matched by his appreciation for the simple joys in life—whether it was sharing stories, family gatherings or debating politics. Rudy’s warmth, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Sunday, March 9, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sarnia & District Humane Society or Ronald McDonald House – London in his memory (cheques only at the funeral home please).
