It is with a mixture of sorrow and bemusement that we announce the passing of Peter Edward Johnson, a man whose life was as full of stories as his golf bag was of clubs. He finally teed off for the great golf course in the sky, where we assume there are no bunkers, no water hazards, and the holes-in-one are as frequent as his storytelling.

Born on March 25, 1937, Peter (Pete or PJ) was a proud member of Local 663, longtime member of Greenwood GC and coached soccer for many years in Sarnia. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances, who patiently listened to his stories a thousand times over, and his children, Craig (Akulina) and Paul (Kristen). Grandchildren Terrin (Carley), Jack, Alexia, Michael (Vassa) and great-grandchildren Blake & Elliot who will forever cherish (and perhaps embellish) the tales their grandad told to them.

A celebration of Pete's life will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Sarnia on Wednesday July 31st (6pm-8pm), where stories will be shared, laughter will be plentiful, and golf will undoubtedly be a topic of conversation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.

As Pete would always say “Oi, isn’t that charming!” We would be charmed if you could join us to share your story about Pete on July 31, 2024 between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm at across from the funeral home at the Smith Family Centre, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. Rest in peace, Dad/Grandad. May your drives be straight, your putts be true, and your stories forever entertaining.
