With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Harvey Howden, who departed this world on July 19th after a brief but intense battle with lung cancer. Diagnosed just 19 days before his passing, his sudden decline was a shock to us all. His journey from vibrant health to his final moments was swift, yet in those days, he showed the strength and love that defined his life. Harv is survived by his daughters, April Morrissey and Sandy Woodhouse and their husbands Kevin Morrissey and Adam Woodhouse. Harv was a loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Eden Rojas, Isaac Morrissey, Jordyn Woodhouse and Jacob Woodhouse.
In Harv’s final days, we cherished every moment. He remained in his home, surrounded by love, and enjoyed visits from family and friends. His last days were filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories, including moments with his grandchildren, whose accomplishments he celebrated with immense pride.
As we reflect on his life, we remember a man who made the world a better place. Harv served his community for 30 years as a dedicated police officer. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, always ready with a comforting word, a helping hand, and a warm embrace. His kindness touched everyone he met, leaving a lasting impression.
Though we grieve his loss, we celebrate his life with fond memories and the lessons he imparted. He taught us the simple joys of life, the importance of family, and the value of humbleness and kindness. Harv will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in all of us.
A service to recognize Harv’s life will take place at Needham Jay Funeral Home, 650 Broadway St., Wyoming Ontario on Thursday July 25th at 2:00 p.m. with visitation the hour prior. Interment at Hillsdale Cemetery will follow immediately afterward, where Harv will be laid to rest beside his cherished wife, Ruth.

Friends and family are also welcome to contact Needham-Jay at (519) 882-0010 for information about an informal celebration of life on Wednesday July 24th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Cancer.ca) or MS Canada (mscanada.ca).
