Winona Jean (Smith) Hoad, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, at the age of 94. Born on June 8, 1930, in Ottawa, Winona (Win) lived a life filled with love and devotion to her family

She is survived by her loving husband, William (Bill) Hoad, her cherished children, daughter Janet, and son Douglas, her devoted son-in-law Neil McCallum, and daughter-in-law Lori Hoad. Win was a proud grandmother to Jamie and Lucas McCallum, who brought immense joy to her life. Win is also survived by her three sisters Lorena, Evangeline and Catherine and their families.

Win will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy of love and care will continue to live on through those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Win was especially proud of her nursing career in Montreal, where she dedicated many years to caring for others. Her passion for learning led her to achieve a Bachelor of Arts degree at the age of 70, a remarkable accomplishment she pursued with determination after beginning her studies at 65.

In her leisure time, Win was an avid gardener who found joy in spending time in nature and the outdoors. She enjoyed curling, bridge, cycling, square dancing, skiing, tennis, and various handicrafts like rug hooking, sewing, quilting and knitting. She was active in every area of life.

Cremation has occurred, and a celebration of her life with family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alzheimer Society, as they have provided so much support in recent years (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
