Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on October 20th, 2024, at Vision Nursing Home, Donald passed away at the age of 87. Beloved Husband of Sandra Lynne Hillier (Nee Ofield). Loving Father to Mark Hillier (Sandy) and Julie Hillier (Scott Crossett) Cherished Grandfather to Jessie Hillier and DJ Hillier, Bradley Crossett. Treasured Brother to Douglas Hillier (Marybeth) of California. Predeceased by his parents, Carl and Reta Hillier, Sister Marilyn Hunter (Bill), and in-laws Barney (Ruth) Ofield. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Donald loved boating, spending time at the cottage on Stag Island, camping in his motor home, and travelling. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and step-dancing. Donald was a hard worker in the Chemical Valley as an instrument electrical foreman, as well as a business owner for Paton Controls and Support Services. He was a true leader, especially when he coached minor hockey for many years.
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Donald’s wishes, a private graveside will be held. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, on Monday, October 28th, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
