George Heath, aged 88, born in Montreal, Quebec on September 25, 1936, peacefully passed at Trillium Villa, with his loving daughter by his side on November 17, 2024. George has been reunited with his beloved wife Elaine Heath (2018). Loving father of Jennifer (Bruce) Cameron from Belleville, Ontario and devoted Papa to Corey and Logan. George will be missed by his brother-in-law, Wayne (Rhonna) Levere from Ottawa, Ontario and niece Kristi Levere (Duane Winter) from Ottawa, Ontario, and nephew Garry (Liana) Levere from Nova Scotia and their children Justin and Karyssa and his brother-in-law Bill McColm from Ottawa, Ontario. Predeceased by his father George Heath, mother Isabel Boyd, and step-sister Betty McColm. George was a popular Sarnia sports broadcaster for 29 years. He came to Sarnia in 1972 as Sports Director at CHOK Radio. He was best known as the "Voice" of the Sarnia Bees, the Petrolia Squires (during their Allan Cup years) and the Sarnia Sting. Prior to moving to Sarnia, George was the play-by-play broadcaster for the Cornwall Royals, predecessor to the Sarnia Sting. Following his retirement from 42 years of broadcasting in 2001, he continued play-by-play for the Sarnia Sting on CHOK until 2004. As Co-Director, George volunteered many hours over the years to make the CHOK/YMCA International Road Race over the Bluewater Bridge between Port Huron and Sarnia. He was a faithful and active member of Paterson Memorial Presbyterian Church, now Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, for many years. George was a friend to everyone and will be missed by many. Friends may visit with the family at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Road, Sarnia on Monday, December 9, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. or 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 120 S. Russell Street with the Rev. Allan Farris officiating, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Burial of ashes will take place at the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Cemetery at Kars, Ontario, likely during playoffs. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Emmanuel Presbyterian Church (cheques only at the funeral home please).
