Peacefully, after a courageous fight with cancer, on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at C.E.E. Hospital of Bluewater Health, Petrolia, Sandra Arlene Hartley passed away at the age of 70. Beloved wife to Carol for 15 years. Dear sister to Robert Hartley and Pat Hartley (the late David James, 2015) and loving aunt to Brooke, Blane, Kendra and Leah. Sandi was also a special aunt to Rob.

Sandi, a cherished member of the Windover Campground community, left behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and unyielding friendship. Known for her warm and welcoming spirit, Sandi embraced both the fair and the feral (you know who you are) with equal affection, cultivating her cherished second family among her many friends. Sandi and Carol’s home was a sanctuary - a welcoming space - where impromptu visits and get-togethers became a hallmark of her generous hospitality. Those who knew her will remember the way she made everyone feel special, creating a sense of belonging that was far from ordinary.

Traveling with her wife, Carol, Sandi relished annual trips to Puerto Vallarta, where the sunny beaches erased all memory our cold Canadian winter. Together, they explored many places creating memories that will be a lasting comfort to Carol.

Sandi's creative heart was in her woodworking, where she crafted tables, bars, and garden treasures that enhanced both beauty and functionality in their home.

A true lover of cinema, her collection of a thousand DVDs reflected her passion for action, adventure, and mystery. It would take another lifetime to re-watch them all.

An extraordinary cook, Sandi’s culinary talents were top notch. Her mastery of the smoker filled her friends’ bellies—and hearts—with flavors that will be talked about and savoured for years. With her passing, Carol jokes that she might finally shed a few pounds, but the truth is, the absence of her cooking will leave a void no diet can fill.

At Sandi’s request, a celebration of life will happen at Windover, her home away from home, when we can all gather in the summer, once more. Sandi will be laid to rest in Alvinston Cemetery.
