On Friday, April 12, 2024 Diane Carrol Guerette (nee Wood) passed peacefully into the arms of her Saviour after a brief stay at the Palliative Care floor at Bluewater Health, Sarnia. She was surrounded by her family as they sang, “It Is Well with my Soul”. Diane was born to Virginia “Ginny” and Elton “Al” on May 5, 1944 in Maine, USA. Growing up in a family that enjoyed fishing and going to “camp” gave her a dislike for creepy crawly things. After secondary school, Diane attended New Brunswick Bible Institute and then went to Bible college in Sherbrooke, Quebec to learn French. There she met Edgard Guérette and they married on April 8, 1967. As Edgard pastored churches in both Montreal and Toronto, Diane became a busy mother to both her children and foster children. Eventually, the family settled in Sarnia where Diane opened her home to provide childcare for many years. She was like a second mother and/or grandmother to many. Diane will be deeply missed by her beloved husband Edgard of 57 years. Diane left behind a legacy in her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother to Daniel (Laura), Jonathan, Melissa (Geoff) Greening and Samuel (Jenna). She was a loving grandma to Faith (Tyler), Isaac (Samantha), Matthew, Jassmine, Sawyer, Nathan and Joel. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Sheryl Borgman and her family. Diane will also be missed by the extended Guerette family. She was a dear sister-in-law of Georges (Carel), Don (Monica), Aurore (late Cliff), Gilles (Kathy), Triumphant, Frank (Debbie), Nelson (Shannon), the late Helene (late Yves), Arlene (Bob), the late Wilson (Lucy), the late Rose and Zoe. Pre-deceased by her parents and brother Edward, nephew Derek and nieces Shae and Danielle. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church, located at 1410 Quinn Dr, Sarnia, Ontario. Visitation will be at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, April 18th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A short visitation will also be held before the funeral from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery following the service. The family wishes to thank all those who assisted with Diane‘s care for the last few years. We are grateful that she could live out her life at home. Sympathy donations may be made online to Youth Unlimited - YFC Sarnia-Lambton, or Samaritan’s Purse (cheques only at the funeral home please).
