It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ederle Lorraine Grimmond on November 28, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Ederle was born on July 15, 1952, in Betsy Ground Village, East Canje, Berbice, Guyana, South America. She was a devoted wife to Alston, a nurturing mother to Rosalee (John), Kevin (Jenn), and Nicole (Mike), and a proud grandmother to Jaden, Marcus, Maliyah, Preston, and Kingston. She was also a cherished sister, a beloved aunt, and a dear friend to many.
Ederle’s kindness, strength, and unwavering love were gifts she shared freely with all who knew her. She had an extraordinary ability to bring people together with her warm smile, infectious laughter, and genuine heart. Her passions for cooking, sewing, and caring for her family reflected her vibrant spirit and selflessness.
Above all, Ederle was the cornerstone of her family, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories. Her children and grandchildren will carry forward her legacy of compassion, resilience, and courage, a true testament to her incredible influence on their lives.
Ederle is survived by her brothers Brian, Darryl, and Euclid and is reunited in peace with her parents, Walter and Pearl, her sister Rosy, and her brother Samuel.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Lilly, Dr. Lebert, the staff at Bluewater Health, and the dedicated team and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice in Ederle’s memory.
Ederle will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love, strength, and joy she brought into our lives. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Ederle’s life will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with family and friends being received one hour prior from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home, located at 1576 London Line, Sarnia, ON. Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the same location. Burial will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather for a luncheon after the burial.
