Velma Skam (nee Douglass), of Wyoming, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, October14, 2024 at C.E.E. Hospital of Bluewater Health in her 82nd year. Velma was the loved wife of the late Ronald “Bill” Skam (2002). She will be missed by her son David Skam and her daughter Tara (Kevin) Broad and her grandchildren Adam and Haleigh Broad. She is also survived by a brother Harold (Marilyn) Douglass and a sister-in-law Marie Wilcocks. Velma was predeceased by her parents David and Jenny Douglass and siblings Ora Baxter, Anna May Wilcocks, Mary Pasquan, Ed Douglass, Ron Douglass, Gerald Douglass, and Keith Douglass. Velma was a longtime member of St. John’s Anglican Church in Wyoming and Wyoming Lioness Club.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. from the Wyoming Chapel of the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, 650 Broadway St., Wyoming. Visitors will be received prior to the service beginning from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. Interment will follow Wyoming Cemetery.
