Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Michael Genovy passed away at the age of 68 after a courageous two and a half year battle with cancer. Beloved husband of 41 years to Mary (nee Wighton). Loving father of Jeff (Nelly) Genovy, Jessica (Dan Paisley) Genovy, and Julie (Jason) DeBoer. Cherished Papa of Henry Paisley and Eli DeBoer. Treasured son of Jean and the late Tony Genovy. Dear brother of Joanne Evans, Barbara (George) Vandenberg, Mary (Andrew) Ciura, Greg (Katie) Genovy, Chris (Joanne) Genovy, Bernard Genovy, Tim Genovy, Mark Genovy, and Becky Bressette. Brother-in-law of John Wighton, Heather (Doug) Janson, and Laurie Wighton. And cherished uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Mike was a well respected Professional Engineer who dedicated 35 years at Arlanxeo. He was a problem-solver extraordinaire who believed that every challenge had a solution waiting to be discovered, and you could often find him tinkering with his electronics. Mike approached each challenge with creativity and a relentless pursuit of perfection. He was also known for his selflessness and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Mike freely shared his knowledge and skills with anyone who sought his help, and was always patient and enthusiastic to teach. In every aspect of his life, Mike gave 110%. He was a pillar of strength and determination even in the face of his illness. Mike defied the odds with remarkable courage and grace. His resilience was a source of inspiration for all who knew him. Above all else, Mike cherished his family. They were his anchor, his motivation, and his greatest source of joy, and he was a devoted Papa to Henry and Eli.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Lilly and Dr. Lebert as well as Richard Kelch of Northgate Pharmacy and the incredible nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice and the Bluewater Health Oncology floor, and the CarePartners PSW team for their care and compassion.
