It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved John “Papi” Geminari on October 13, 2024, at Meadowview Villa nursing home in Petrolia. At 85, surrounded by family and friends, Papi peacefully passed away. John was the cherished husband of Claudette Couture Geminari, his devoted companion of 62 years. He was a loving father to Louise Geminari Cooke and Michael Geminari, father in law to Paul Cooke and Christine Liburski, and a proud grandfather to Jasmine Boucher Geminari, Nikolas Geminari, Jessica Sauvé, Tiana Cooke, and Olivia Cooke, all of whom will hold his memory close in their hearts. He is survived by his dear sister Amelia Ursaki and brother in law George Ursaki. John was predeceased by his parents, William Geminari and Glicheria Catarau Geminari and his dear brother Alex Geminari. He will also be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews. John’s life was filled with a passion for music. In his younger years, he pursued a singing career with the group “The Favorites,” and Frank Sinatra remained one of his favorite artists until the end. The words of Sinatra’s “My Way” aptly describe John’s approach to life. Though his time in music was brief, John discovered his true calling in the culinary world. He left a lasting legacy in the food industry, particularly through his work with the Pogo “corndog” brand, earning him the title of “Pogo King.” He will be remembered not only for his creative business ventures but also for his generous heart and his ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him. In retirement, John was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, a battle he faced with strength for nearly 25 years. He was an active participant in the Iron Works Rock Steady Boxing program for seven years, embracing life and its challenges with grace and resilience. John’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, the staff and residents of Meadowview Villa, and all those whose lives he touched. His warmth, creativity, and ever-present smile will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Papi. You will always be loved and remembered. Cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, sympathy can be expressed through donations to Parkinson’s Society Southwestern Ontario. (cheques only at the funeral home please).

À l’âge de 85 ans, entouré de sa famille et de ses amis, Papi s’est paisiblement éteint. John était l’époux chéri de Claudette Couture Geminari, sa compagne dévouée pendant 62 ans. Il était un père aimant pour Louise Geminari Cooke et Michael Geminari, beau-père de Paul Cooke et Christine Liburski, ainsi qu’un grand-père fier de Jasmine Boucher Geminari, Nikolas Geminari, Jessica Sauvé, Tiana Cooke et Olivia Cooke, qui garderont tous précieusement son souvenir dans leurs cœurs. Il laisse dans le deuil sa chère sœur Amelia Ursaki et son beau-frère George Ursaki. John a été précédé dans la mort par ses parents, William Geminari et Glicheria Catarau Geminari, ainsi que son cher frère Alex Geminari. Il manquera également beaucoup à ses nombreux nièces et neveux. La vie de John a toujours été animée par une passion pour la musique. À la retraite, John a été diagnostiqué avec la maladie de Parkinson, un combat qu’il a mené avec force pendant près de 25 ans. Il a participé activement au programme de boxe Rock Steady chez Iron Works pendant sept ans, affrontant la vie et ses défis avec grâce et résilience. L’héritage de John vivra dans les cœurs de sa famille, de ses amis, du personnel et des résidents de Meadowview Villa, ainsi que de tous ceux dont il a touché la vie. Sa chaleur, sa créativité et son sourire constant ne seront jamais oubliés. Repose en paix, Papi. Tu seras toujours aimé et jamais oublié. La crémation a eu lieu et une célébration privée de la vie de John se tiendra à une date ultérieure. En lieu de fleurs, les condoléances peuvent se traduire par des dons à la Société Parkinson du Sud-Ouest de l’Ontario.
