Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Bluewater Health, Stanley Glen Edward Free passed away at the age of 72. Beloved husband of Megan Free. Loving father of Dennis, Jamie, Nathan, Dustin and Trevor. Cherished grandfather of Riley, Ty, Peyton and Brendan. Loving brother of Arthur, Ellen (Newton), Kenneth, David and Steven. Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Leatha Free and by his siblings Alfred, Arlene (Beldom) and Judith Rose. Stan will be reunited with “his dog” Holly who has been patiently waiting for him. Stan thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to camp and hosted annual chili gatherings. Stan held a special place in his heart for fishing and could often be found onshore on both sides of the Bluewater Bridge. Stan enjoyed playing poker and loved all things baseball, he played for Cromwell Grill when he was younger and was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Stan worked as a laborer and after he fully retired, he bought and sold aquariums to keep busy. Stan was known for being social and would often tell stories to anyone who would listen while making friends out of strangers, and he never left the house without picking up a large double-double from Tim Horton’s. Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Stan’s wishes, no services will be held. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
