Passed away peacefully after a sudden illness on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Bluewater Health Sarnia. Jack Fraser of Wyoming (currently of Albany Retirement Village, Petrolia) was in his 90th year. Predeceased by his loving wife, Fran (nee Slovacik)(2018), parents, Jack (1982) and Cora (nee Hill)(1990), and brother Dan (2015). Loving father of Lorrie and Paul Whitely of Reeces Corners and Brian Fraser of Hendersonville, Noth Carolina, grandfather to Laura and Chris Byers and Adam and Candice Whitely, great grandfather to Blythe, Audrey, Rhett, Isla, and Lillie and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Jack was born in Windsor but grew up in Petrolia in a house on the Corner of Petrolia Line and England Ave., where Mid Valley Apartments are today. Jack moved to the farm on the Plympton/Enniskillen Townline in 1966 where he farmed, and continued as a Boilermaker with Local 128, working in Sarnia’s Chemical Valley until his retirement. After Fran passed away, Jack moved to Albany Retirement Village in Petrolia in 2019.
Jack was a gentle giant of a man and was never one to get too excited or worked up about life. Known for his unique chuckle/laugh and “Gift of the Gab” he would stop and talk to anyone who would listen. Always willing to help others, especially neighbouring farmers who might need an emergency weld or repair, as he was considered an exceptional welder, Jack embodied the meaning of community and being a good neighbour. Jack was also a member of the Morning breakfast/coffee club at Sam’s, and he volunteered with the Wyoming Fair Board.
A private interment will be held in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Wyoming. A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
