With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Eloise Fournie on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hospice. Eloise joins her beloved husband Harold Fournie (2018) in the presence of the Lord that she worshipped so faithfully. Beloved mother of Barbara Riley (Frank), Gary Fournie (Colleen), Ken Fournie (Cathy), Kathy Walker (Paul), and Shelley Causley (Matt). Treasured grandmother of 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Survived by her sisters Betty Freer and Carol Rankin, brother-in-law Don Fournie, one very special niece Bev Hyatt (Jason) and adopted daughter Judi Beasley (David) and family. Predeceased by her parents Ivan and Delila Abra, parents-in-law Burton and Mona Fournie, brothers Edward and Jack Abra, and siblings-in-law Lorraine Abra, Arthur Freer, Doris Fournie and Frank Fournie. To say we will miss Eloise is an understatement. She baked from a place of love and gifted more baked goods and brownies then we could ever count. Eloise had the purest of hearts and prayed diligently everyday for everyone. She was humble and so grateful for the smallest of things. Eloise was the strongest woman with a gentle soul and we were so very blessed to have her. Well done my faithful servant, rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus. The family is so grateful for the palliative support of Dr. MacSweeney, the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice, the VON nurses and PSW team. We cannot express our appreciation enough. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or 100 Huntley, a cause Mom and Dad supported and held close to their hearts (cheques only at the funeral home please).
