EMMERSON, ISOBEL (NEE MUXLOW)
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Isobel Emmerson (nee Muxlow) surrounded by her family at University Hospital, London on January 24th, 2024 after a brief illness. She left us to join her parents William and Agnes Muxlow (nee Dixon) and her infant son Richard in her eternal home.
Isobel was the beloved wife and best friend of Gary Emmerson, loving mother of Rodney of Sudbury and Christopher of Port Lambton. She was the proud grandmother of Zachery, Jolene (Malcolm), Gordon and doting GG of Bjorn.
She will be deeply missed by her siblings Mary and Carl Adams, Ethil and Craig Litster, and Fred and Leanne Muxlow and her many nieces and nephews and her extended Emmerson, Muxlow and Dixon families.
Isobel was born on August 10, 1947 in Meaford and raised in the rural Meaford area. She attended Scotch Mountain Public and Meaford District High School. After graduation she joined the banking business and remained in that profession until her retirement to join Gary travelling the U.S. and Canada in his long-haul trucking business.
After Gary’s retirement they begun to truly enjoy their retirement at their winter home in Florida where she and Gary embraced the community living at Buttonwood Bay and developed numerous long-lasting friendships. Isobel kept up an active community interest and she and Gary began driving for Wheels of Hope, transporting patients from Port Lambton and area to London and surrounding cancer treatment centres. Isobel was a compassionate and caring driver who empathized with the patients she was transporting only to be stricken with a similar diagnosis at the end of November.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the physicians and staff who were involved in her care, the surgical ICU physicians and their support staff at the University Hospital for the outstanding care and compassion to the family during Isobel’s admission.
We are very grateful to our cousins Ken and Mary Lou Anderson for supporting us at Isobel’s bedside at her passing and for Ken’s comforting message.
Cremation has taken place and celebration of Isobel’s life will be held at a later date.
As your expression of sympathy, donations to the University Hospital London or Canadian Cancer Society Wheels of Hope would be appreciated and may be made through the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., Meaford, ON N4L 1B9, arrangements have been entrusted to the Sarnia Cremation Services.
