It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Tom Currie on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the age of 74. Loving father of Katie (John) Alvarado and Jacob Currie. Cherished papa to his loving granddaughters Olivia and Sophia Alvarado. Survived by his siblings Nancy (Ken) Henry and Terry (Lorraine) Currie of Petrolia. Predeceased by his parents Harvey Currie (1966) and “Dolly” Royetta Currie (2019). Tom will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Tom was raised in Petrolia, ON, where his family owned and operated Curries Esso in Marthaville for over 30 years. Tom had a passion for buying and selling unique classic muscle cars, his Chevy Nova, IROC-Z, Corvette and Chevelle just to name a few. Tom helped run the garage after his father’s early passing but ultimately was drawn to a career in the valley. “Thomas Harvey Currie, 2nd Class Stationary Engineer”, he began his Operating career by working at Polysar, then moving on to Petrosar, which eventually became Nova Chemicals, where he worked (and played) for almost 40 years, retiring in 2014. Tom was an avid golfer. He thoroughly enjoyed his weekly rounds of golf and out of town golf trips with his good friends and golfing buddies - Mel Kongus, Frank Vago, and Rick Clubb. Tom was also a devoted Maple Leafs fan and cheered for the New Orleans Saints – never missing a game. He appreciated a good Huey Lewis tune and reminiscing on the good old days. He was a good, hardworking man - a provider, and a constant supporter of his kids and granddaughters. Olivia and Sophia meant the world to him and kept him feeling young. His spirit will live on through shared laughter, stories, and memories of him.

Family and friends will be received at Needham-Jay Funeral Home in Petrolia, Ontario for visitation on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, from 3:00-6:00pm. A private family graveside will be held. Sympathy expressed through donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association (www.cmha.ca) would be appreciated by the family.
