Peacefully, at North Lambton Lodge on Sunday, February 2nd, 2025, Louisa "Lois" Coates (nee Davies) in her 87th year.

Cherished wife of Donald Coates of 64 years and friends of 74 years.  Loving mother of Christopher (Sylvie Barrette) and Curtis (Jody Thomas).  Devoted Gramma of Samantha (Bryant Shapiro), Andrew (Shannon Sterling) and Sarah (Cassandra Jarcew).  Dear sister of Sandra Davies (Don Ellis) and sister-in-law of Robert Coates (the late Elva) and Paul Coates (Therese) and the late Kenneth Coates (Betty Coates).  Lois will be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Accompanying each other on moves across Canada and indeed to Great Britain, Lois was the essential partner and mother on an incredible journey.  She was very engaged in the many communities where she lived.  Through her love for and dedication to her communities, Lois spent thousands of hours volunteering her time and giving back to the community.  She filled curling teams and golf foursomes with her joy for the sports and with helping others enjoy them as well.  She brightened the local chapter of the Probus Club with her spirit of friendship.  Lois was an avid gardener and quilter. Her attention to detail and her fine needlework combined with her passion for quilting has earned her many awards over the years. Her love of family is what defined her.  She had a quick and happy laugh, she loved cooking for her family and played hours of games with her grandchildren. She was never happier than when she was at home with those she loved.

The family extends great appreciation for the tremendous care and attention provided to Lois by staff, care givers and all the helpers at Marshall Gowland Manor (MGM) in Sarnia and the North Lambton Lodge in Forest.

Friends will be received at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 176, 58 Albert St., Forest, on Thursday, February 6th, 2025, from 2-5 p.m.  Words of Remembrance will begin at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to North Lambton Lodge Auxiliary or Alzheimer’s Society of Sarnia-Lambton would be appreciated by the family.
