William ‘Gordon’ Christner of Wallaceburg, Ontario passed away peacefully on January 8th, 2025 at the age of 92. Gordon was born July 19th, 1932 to Walter & Dorothy and was pre-deceased by his only sibling, Grace.
He is survived by Marjorie, his loving wife of seventy-three years along with his eleven children. He will be sorely missed by Lesley (Ken) McGillivray, Janet, Stephen (Elizabeth), Julie (Ron) Ameloot, Eileen (Lee) Stanlick, Carol (Brian) Robinson, John (Lori - d. 2014), Peggy (Daniel) Kun, Michael (Shannon), Anthony (Todd) and Matthew. His lasting legacy also includes twenty Grandchildren, twenty-four Great-Grandchildren and even one recently arrived Great-Great Grandchild.
Gordon began his working career as an Electrician with Wallaceburg Hydro before transitioning to teaching Electrical classes in Brantford. Most students would remember him from his final teaching position at Wallaceburg District Secondary School. He was extremely proud to have been Co-Ordinator of the Wallaceburg Skills Development Committee after he finished teaching, helping people train and transition into new careers prior to his retirement.
In his earlier years he enjoyed racing hydroplanes and as he settled into raising a family he enjoyed camping, woodworking and watching his favourite Toronto sports teams. His later years were always accompanied by one of his beloved cats. He was always found with a coffee mug in hand and a story to tell anyone with some time to listen. He could fix anything.
Family and Friends are invited for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231), on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 11am until 2pm.
