Peacefully and unexpectedly, on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Bluewater Health, Christina Helma Chopp passed away at the age of 74. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Ronald Chopp (2018). Loving mother of Dan (Melissa) Chopp and Sherri-Lynn Chopp (Renzo Stirpe). Cherished Grandma of Nicholas, Aidan, Ambar, Alexis (Lexi), Melina and Giulio. Dear sister of Sheila (Ray) Reckseidler, Winnifred Love, and James (Linda) Love. Sister-in-law to Arden Gillis, Norma Chopp, Mike Chopp (Dan), and Susan Chopp. Predeceased by Alice Love, Anton (Elizabeth) Chopp, Wilfred Love, Marg Gillis, Dave Chopp, Jerry (Barb) Chopp, and Cathy Chopp. Treasured and longtime friend to Dot Oana and Betty O'Connor. Special mention to neighbour and friend Clare Menzies. Christina will be sadly missed by the Shirley and Marian Families of the U.S.A, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Chris was an extremely talented woman who enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, painting, scrapbooking and all sorts of crafty inventions. In addition, knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing were also beloved pastimes for her throughout the years. She enjoyed playing cards and board games with her grandchildren and could often be found relaxing in her backyard swing. Her generosity extended to taking care of her grandchildren when sick and even her grand doggies. Along with her beloved late husband Ron, Chris also enjoyed fries and ice cream under the bridge, car rides, and strolling through garage sales and flea markets. Music was a big part of her life because music soothed her soul, and she loved to dance! Chris will be remembered for her generosity towards friends and family as it was admirable to say the least. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday September 20, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to Canadian Diabetes Association and Heart and Stroke Foundation (cheques only at the funeral home please).
