Surrounded by her family, Beth passed peacefully on December 14, 2023 after a hard fought battle. Much loved wife of Andy, deeply caring mother of Nonita (Jason), Vanitia, and Kurtis, and adored Grammie of Zaavan, Veya, Myrah, and Tyrin. Loving sister of Kathy (Dave) Esser and Charlene (Amnon) Amit. Beth was predeceased by her parents, Rolly and Dorothy Phibbs.

Beth’s faith was deep, and she loved with arms wide open with a love that knew no barriers. In continuation of Phibbs tradition, Beth was always the first person to provide a meal or fresh baking to anyone she thought may be going through a rough patch. No matter anyone’s background, or situation in life she loved and welcomed them into her family: refugees from Ethiopia, survivors of the Rwandan genocide, and anyone she could see that was hurting and needed a hand up. This might have been an inclusion in family Christmas, staying with the family over the holidays, or providing a safe place for people who needed time and space to heal.

Beth was a nurse for 35 years and caring for people was her default. Even after she retired, she was always on call and willing to help with advice or care for friends and family.

An avid lover of the outdoors by association with her husband, Beth loved spending time at the cottage hiking, fishing, boating, snowmobiling and keeping her family and friends well fed.

Between her time at work, church and the cottage, Beth could often be found in the seat of a tractor working ground or running wagons, walking through the field picking rocks or pulling weeds, or preparing food for the army of people helping out.

Beth’s battle would not have been possible without the help of all those who have unselfishly donated blood. In honour of Beth, the family requests that those who are able donate blood or make monetary donations to the Canadian Blood Services (cheques only at the funeral home please, Smith Funeral Home 1576 London Line, Sarnia, ON).

A private family service has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
