Malcolm died with family by his side on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Bluewater Health after a short illness while living with Alzheimer’s disease. He was 80 years old.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 48 years, Nora Boyd; children, Barbara and Hugh; daughter-in-law Katie; and siblings Ian (Anne) Boyd and Miriam Hamilton.

He had a 25-year career as a County Planning Director for Prince Edward and Lambton Counties during which he advocated passionately for 911 services, municipal addressing, the twinned Bluewater Bridge, and creating a County Heritage Forest.

Malcolm loved nature, enjoyed birding, and worked tirelessly for the conservation of wild spaces. As past president and board member of Lambton Wildlife he helped to acquire and protect wildlife habitats for endangered species. He also volunteered for Scouts Canada for 35 years, introducing new generations to the natural world and helping the 23rd Sarnia Scouts and Camp Attawandaron achieve international accreditation for Excellence for Nature and Environment. He was also an active member of St. Bartholomew’s Church.

He enjoyed many hobbies and sharing them with others. He particularly loved skiing, sailing, canoeing, stargazing, listening to classical and fiddle music, spending time at his brother’s cottage in the Ottawa Valley, and traveling with friends and family.

His family’s grief is as immense as their gratitude for his life.
