On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Valerie Lynn Blackbird (nee Fisher), a member of Walpole Island First Nation left us to continue on her journey to join her ancestors at the age of 56. Her loving memory will live on through her children Norris Fisher, Mychelle Mike, Leon Mike (Kayla Cadreau), Aayla Blackbird (Matt), the late Rose Blackbird and their father Robin as well her loving partner Jerry and her grandchildren Darius, Arabella, Ziyanna, Silka, Autumn, Neveah, Dilara, Aliza, Wyatt, Everley, Alaric and Saddie. Daughter of the late Delores Kiyoshk and Clark Peters. Dearest sister of Kennedy Fisher (Tina), Mia Fisher, Cynthia Fisher (Ken), Renee Williams, Clark Peters and the late Michelle Brady, the late William Joseph, the late Dannette Huff. Community Visitation will be held at the Walpole Island Sports Complex on Friday, April 11, 2025 beginning at 12noon. Her traditional funeral service will be held there on Saturday, April 12, 2025 beginning at 11am. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231).
