Robert “Robbie” Barr was born the youngest of 4 siblings to the late Donald and Georgina (Watson) Barr on April 2, 1957. Rob and his siblings grew up on Montgomery drive, where he met and developed friendships with neighbors. Many of those friendships lasted throughout his life.

He married his best friend and partner Lori Moran on January 12, 1980. They brought sons home in October of 1980 (Robert Scott) and September of 1981 (Jonathan Edward). Rob found work in manufacturing, where he put to use his many skills. He spent 25  years working at Eaton Yale, Crucible and Meritor.

For many summers Robbie enjoyed volunteering his time for the Wallaceburg Red Devils, which allowed him to support a sport that meant so much to him.

Rob loved nothing more than to sit by a campfire, listening to favorite music or playing cards with family and friends, including siblings Wayne (Brenda) Barr, Jim (Judy) Barr, Gwen (Dennis) Matt and in-laws John (Karen) Moran, Kim (Dave) Johnston, Kathy (Malcolm McAlpine) Moran, Lynn (Dennis Burgess) Ulch, Julia Moran (Shepley), Jim (Sue) Moran, Bill Moran and Peter (Elaine) Moran.

He found contentment in his retirement, diligently maintaining the yard and beautiful gardens. He crafted beautiful shelves and birdhouses, and enjoyed weekly games of cribbage at the Adult Activity Centre. He was a steadfast supporter of his children Scott (Hilary Knight) Barr and Jonathan “Marvin” (Christin) Barr and grandchildren Kyran, Owen, Audrey, Alex, Leah, and Wesley, and could often be found watching their lacrosse, hockey and soccer games.

Rob passed September 14, 2024, leaving a legacy of quiet strength, determination and loyalty. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Following with his wish’s cremation has taken place and a celebration of life “Open House” will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 18, in Wallaceburg, on Saturday September 21, 2024, from 2-6pm.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg. (519) 627-2861.
