In his 90th year, Andreas Aerts died peacefully with family at his side on December 9th, 2023 at the Sprucedale Care Centre in Strathroy.

Fond step father of Jim Smith, Sherry D’Silva (Alan), and Rob Smith (Christine). Predeceased by his first wife Dimphena (Dina) Aerts (nee Heynen), and his siblings Staf Aerts, Josephine Aerts-Vertruyen, and Jose Wyns. Survived by four brothers, many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada and Belgium.
Andre worked hard and smart; he started his work life in the coal mines, rose to the rank of Sergeant in the Belgium Army, became a successful egg producer in Canada, and lived life to the fullest in his retirement. He was affectionately known for his love of square dancing, his world travels trying to keep up with Shirley, and his witty jokes. He valued family visits, drives to events, trips to McDonald’s, good beer and a shot of whiskey.
