Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Bluewater Health, Margaret Adderley passed away at the age of 84. Beloved wife of Jack Adderley. Loving mother of Darlene (Nick) and Donald (Patricia). Cherished grandmother of Samantha, Brett, Elora and Katrina. Cherished great grandmother of Lylah, Pierce and Madelyn. Predeceased by her father, Russell, mother, Dora and brother, Bob (Powell). Margaret grew up in Merlin, Ontario. She left Merlin to attend the Ontario Teacher’s College in London, Ontario where she also completed a Bachelor’s degree at Western University. She moved to Sarnia, Ontario and taught in the public school system for 35 years. Margaret’s love of learning included music as well. She attended the Ontario Conservatory of Music for piano in Toronto and was a choir member of Sarnia’s Melody-Aires. Margaret’s passion for music also led to supporting the music program throughout Sarnia’s public school system. She was also a very giving person during retirement, constantly volunteering at local seniors’ homes playing the piano and participating in sing-alongs. Margaret beat ovarian cancer in her lifetime and gave back to the community by volunteering at the Bluewater Health System chemo ward and supported individuals across Canada who were impacted by ovarian cancer. Margaret was a rare individual who always assumed the best in everyone, loved life and was universally loved by all. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. with visitation held prior from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, ALS Society and the Sarnia Humane Society (cheques only at the funeral home please).
