Sarnia Police are looking for witnesses after a violent assault in Canatara Park sent a 14-year-old girl to hospital, over the weekend.

In a news release issued Monday, Sarnia Police say officers responded to Canatara Park just after midnight on July 8, for a report of an assault in progress.

“Police and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived and located a 14 year old female victim who had been violently assaulted,” police stated. “Several other teenagers where in the park at the time and a single witness contacted police by calling 9-1-1.”

The victim was transported to Bluewater Health for treatment.

The accused, and 18-year-old female from Sarnia, is charged with the following:

  • Assault cause bodily harm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault (x2)
  • Utter threats to cause death
