Local Liberals intend to make reduced passenger train service in Sarnia a campaign issue in this year’s federal election.
A petition calling for the restoration of the city’s VIA service was presented to Parliament on behalf of the Sarnia-Lambton Federal Liberal Association in December.
“This is our last hurrah,” said president Eileen Viola. “Our mid-day train has been cancelled for two years now, we have collected well over 3,000 signatures, and we still don’t see restoration of that service.”
Unless an election is called sooner, Canadians go to the polls on Oct. 19.
