A 39-year-old man was arrested and charged with impaired driving after fleeing from a collision scene in Sarnia, late Tuesday.

Sarnia Police say the incident occurred around 11 p.m. when officers responded to a call from a concerned citizen observing a single-vehicle collision in the area of Kimball and Plank roads.

“Several officers, along with the OPP canine unit, contained the area and located the suspect as he ran away through farm fields,” police said in a news release. “The accused was transported to the Sarnia Police Service where he provided breath samples that determined his blood alcohol concentration to be twice the legal limit.”

He was released from custody and will appear in court next month to answer the charges.
