Photography exhibit to launch 2024 season at Gallery in the Grove

Local exhibit features photographs by Glenn Ogilvie, Mary Kilbreath, Scott Clarke and Shaun Antle.

Four local photographers are presenting new work to help launch the 2024 Exhibition season at Gallery in the Grove. The exhibition opens Saturday, Jan. 6 and runs until Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024.

The photographs by Glenn Ogilvie, Mary Kilbreath, Scott Clarke and Shaun Antle are all unique in their presentation and subject matter, a news release from the gallery noted.

“Visitors of all ages will be engaged by the colour, the reflections, the detail and textures that a talented photographer can reveal.”

Ogilvie’s selection of photographs are a look from the past — computer generated, full-size negatives are placed on hand coated artist paper and then printed under ultra violet lights or sunlight. The finished photographs have a soft, romantic appeal.

Kilbreath, who is also a painter, uses her camera to capture candid moments in life, landscape studies, portraits, animals, studies of composition and light, and to collect reference and inspiration for her painting practice. Mary’s untitled series of flowers in this exhibition reflects her gentle approach to the fragile subject.

Clarke’s photography in this exhibition is a collection of images that are deeply meaningful to him and represent family, culture, architecture and travel.

For Antle, this exhibit will be about showcasing a range of technical and artistic abilities within the art of Photography, while taking the viewers on a journey through stunning landscapes, reflecting on the little things and spotlighting beautiful wildlife.

“This is a special exhibition. All four of these local photographers bring a unique interpretation of photography to the gallery,” said Sylvia Foreman – co-chair of the exhibition. “We are very grateful for their time and dedication in the organization of this exhibit and we know visitors to the gallery will enjoy their work.”

Gallery in the Grove is a volunteer registered charitable organization with a mandate to support Arts Education in Sarnia Lambton.

The Artists will be at the opening day of the exhibition on January 6 and each artist will participate in Artist in the House days every Saturday in January. Gallery in the Grove hours are: Monday to Thursday 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Fridays and Saturdays 11:00 am – 2:00 p.m.
