Sarnia's Station #3 at the corner of Colborne and Michigan Avenue has been replaced by a new $7-million fire hall on the same property. Firefighters moved into the new state-of-the-art station last week and demolition of the old one is well underway.
Station #3 serves Sarnia's north end, downtown, Sandy Lane and several nursing homes and answers at least 800 calls a year. City council agreed to replace the 70-year-old station in 2022 but labour and material delivery delays slowed the project.
Next Tuesday, on Jan. 30, officials will gather to officially open the new hall, visible in these photos behind the remains of the old one.
