Hospital now plays a lullaby when baby is born

Visitors at Bluewater Health may have wondered recently about a sweet-sounding children’s melody heard playing on the hospital’s intercom.

Visitors at Bluewater Health may have wondered recently about a sweet-sounding children’s melody heard playing on the hospital’s intercom.

The five-second recording is part of a new tradition at the hospital, one in which Brahm’s “The Lullaby” is played whenever a new baby is born in the maternity ward.

“The concept is to remind staff, patients and visitors of the joy and beauty of new beginnings,” said Krista Turner, manager of the maternal child health unit.

Bluewater Health delivers about 1,100 babies each year, so the lullaby could be heard at any given time an average two to three times a day.
