A 21-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after police were called to a robbery at a Murphy Road Cannabis store.

Sarnia Police say the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. at Sessions Cannabis, when a man with a knife entered the store and demanded products before fleeing on foot.

Officers responded and conducted a search of the area, locating the suspect near Wellington and East Streets just before 10 a.m.

He was found with the stolen items and knife, and was taken into custody, facing charges of robbery with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The suspect was held for a bail hearing and was released by the courts with his next appearance on Dec. 8.

A Sarnia Police news release issued Thursday, added:

“If you are the victim of a robbery, we ask you to co-operate with the criminal to avoid any sort of harm. Instead, to the best of your ability, gather the best description you are able to and once the suspect leaves the building immediately lock the doors and call 911 where dispatchers will guide you.

These actions will help to avoid possible injuries and will assist officers in their investigation into the offence.

We do realize that this may be one of the most stressful events that can occur to a person but rest assured that the police will attempt to help you through it."
