College implements total ban on smoking

Published on

Lambton College has gone entirely smoke-free.

As of May 1, all students, staff and visitors were prohibited from vaping or smoking tobacco or marijuana anywhere on its campuses.

The college said the move is in keeping with its new strategic plan, which supports a healthy workplace for all.

The ban not only provides protection from second-hand smoke, but it reduces property litter and discourages tobacco use among youth, the college said in a statement.

Lambton Public Health has been at the Sarnia campus providing information on smoking cessation and other services.
