PAYROLL SPECIALIST


Connect Logistics Services Inc. located in St. Albert, is a third-party contractor that provides warehouse and distribution services of spirits, wine, import beer and cannabis throughout the province of Alberta on behalf of Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis (AGLC) Commission. We are currently looking for a

Payroll Specialist

to join our team (predominantly Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm).

Reporting to the Finance Controller, this role will thrive in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for salary and hourly team members. In this role:

• You’ll perform standard tasks to establish and maintain payroll record compliance

• You’ll process payroll for approx. 550 team members ensuring accuracy and timeliness

• You’ll manage daily and weekly integrations between various computer platforms

• You’ll administer various benefit and data relating to team member changes (new hires, transfers, terminations, leaves) – processing

Records of Employment (ROE), remittances for garnishments, retirement savings plans, group benefits, and Workers Compensation (WCB)

• You’ll process various employee deductions and reimbursements

• You’ll manage and track various hour accruals and banked time including annual rollover

• You’ll process various financial reporting and reconciliation tasks

– preparing journal entries, completing account and balance sheet reconciliations, generating weekly/monthly payroll reports, forecasting, conducting audits, completing year-end tasks, and T4 preparation

• You’ll review and audit payroll related policies and processes

• You’ll be the first point of contact for payroll related inquires

• Other duties as assigned

Now, here’s what we need from you:

• Completion of post-secondary education related to payroll administration

• Canadian Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) or related designation an asset

• 3-5 years directly working in payroll administration

• Working knowledge of payroll practices including provincial and federal policies and regulations is required

• Working knowledge of payroll software is required

• Knowledge of Oracle, ADP Workforce Now, or KRONOS/UKG Workforce Dimensions is an asset

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Excel is required

• Skilled in communication, decision making and problem-solving skills
