BIC opening a second office in eastern Ontario

A Sarnia-based backer of bioindustry startups is expanding.

Bioindustrial Innovation Canada is opening a second office in Brockville, Ont., it announced recently.

Working with the St. Lawrence Corridor Economic Development Commission and St. Lawrence College, BIC’s new location will “reinforce its continued support for the development of a second hybrid chemistry cluster in Eastern Ontario,” it said in a release.

BIC is a not-for-profit business accelerator that provides funding, advice and services to businesses working on clean and sustainable technologies.

BIC has funded 17 Sarnia-area startups that include

Origin Materials, Ainsworth Energy, and KMX Membrane Technologies.

The agency says its projects have created more than 3,000 jobs.
